RV Caravan Tours:
Transportation
Your Road Trip to Outdoor Adventure TM

Card by ergiftworks@earthlink.net

Bring your own RV, motorhome, or camper of any kind. Or fly, drive, or take the train here from anywhere and rent an RV through our preferred supplier. See below for details.

Driving Your Own RV:
If you are driving your own RV, you will be meeting us at the rendezvous campground on Monday. Driving directions will come with your trip packet after registration.

RV Size Limitations:
Any size rig or vehicle is welcome. However on our any of our Discover Oregon Tours, RVs longer than 35 feet will have to stay at a neighboring RV Park when we are in the redwoods. At all campgrounds in Redwoods National & State Parks, motorhome or trailer length is limited to 35 feet. Towed cars or dinghies are not a problem as they can be disconnected and parked next to the RV. If you don't have a towed car to use, we will arrange to shuttle you to the main group to join the community campfire and charcoal grill both nights
.

Renting an RV:
If you are flying in, arriving via Amtrak train, or driving your passenger car here, you will be making arrangements for your RV rental with RVs-To-Go in Portland, Oregon. Contact Mark West at +1 (503) 570-6131 or toll free at 1-800-787-8646, and be sure to mention RV Caravan Tours. Liability & damage insurance is not included in the price of the rental, but we recommend it. We also recommend you get the kitchen and linen kits. These contain sheets, towels, pots, pans and utensils, etc., for four people.

Please be aware that RV rentals are reserved far in advance, especially during prime vacation season when our tours take place. To ensure your choice of unit and pick-up destination, it is best to book your RV rental as far in advance as possible.

Gasoline / Petrol Price Watch:
According to the Energy Information Administration, U.S. average retail prices continue to drop significantly throughout the country. In our experience, although Oregon is not a self-serve sales state, it tends to be 3-5 cents per gallon less than Northern California.

Flight Arrangements:
If you are flying in, you will arrange your own flights to and from Portland, Oregon, with your travel agent. If you don't have a travel agent, feel free to contact ours: Didi Roberts at Ambassador Travel 1-800-237-1353 or +1 (541) 685-2606.

RV pick-up hours are 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm, on the hour by appointment only. If your flight is scheduled to arrive by 2:00 pm, you should be safe flying in on Monday. If your flight would arrive later than 2:00 pm, we recommend you fly in a day in advance, on Sunday. Plan to spend an hour at vehicle check-out, learning the ropes of how to use your rental RV. Please call us for recommendations on local hotels if you are flying in early.

RV drop-off hours are 8:00 am - 10:00 am only. If your flight is scheduled to depart after 12:00 noon (1:00 pm for International), you should be safe flying out on Monday. If your flight is scheduled to depart earlier than noon (1:00 pm for International), you may want to stay over one extra night and depart the next day, Tuesday.

If you are signed up for the Discover Oregon Tour, Week 1 or Week 2 only, please call so we can discuss the logistics of your flight. If you are on Week 1 Tour, you will need to drive from the Redwoods back to Portland (a six-hour drive) and will most likely fly out of Portland on Tuesday. If you are on Week 2 Tour, you will need to drive to the redwoods to meet us after picking up your RV in Portland. In that case you will most likely fly into Portland on Sunday.

If you have any questions about your flights or renting RVs, please call or e-mail us!

Optional Airport (or Train) Transfer Package:
No worry and no waiting for a taxi: This option is especially helpful to our international guests who are first-time visitors to the U.S. For $150 (U.S. funds) per 1 to 2 people arriving on the same flight (or train), we will arrange to have someone waiting for you at the airport (or Amtrak station) with a car, meet you at your gate (or as close as we can get with current security measures), accompany you to baggage claim, help you with your bags, drive you to the RV rental company, and help you with your RV rental check-out. Also included is the return airport (or train) transfer, where we will arrange for someone to meet you at the RV rental company upon your RV rental return, drive you and your bags back to the airport (or Amtrak station), and help you bring your bags inside to the ticket counter for baggage check-in. Be sure to checkmark this option on the registration form if you want us to arrange this airport (or train) transfer package for you.
